Context

Over the past years, the Pyte Foundry has provided logotypes for a variety of illustrious clients. Tailoring wordmarks to a project’s specific aesthetic requirements has become a welcoming addition to the designing of entire typeface families. In close collaboration with the commissioning customer, the Pyte Foundry is crafting high fidelity outlines that capture the character of a brand, product or service.

In some cases, as with the Vinmonopolet identity, the logotype is an essential part of a more extensive design brief and executed parallel to the development of a custom typeface. Here, the mutual influences of the reference material, the typeface and the logotype result in a consistent visual expression desired in identity design.

Another frequent request is the updating and revamping of well established wordmarks. A careful analysis of the historical evolution precedes the conception and drawing of letterforms suited to contemporary needs. A prime example of this approach is the refurbished masthead of the Norwegian daily «Klassekampen».

A third category amongst the work samples shown above is the development of script lettering. In order to induce a personal touch to a brand or service, the appeal of the hand-written is cautiously translated into workable vector outlines.
