The Pyte Foundry is the commercial protraction of Ellmer Stefan’s 2016 free font lunacy of the same name. Through this website a selection of the back catalogue will be reissued, aside newly envisioned Pyte-faces balancing functionality and idiosyncrasy, historical reference points and contemporary design practice, hopefully to the delight of designers and readers alike.

Licensing Fonts

Font licenses are available in four different “sizes”: Mini, Small, Medium and Large. All licenses cover Desktop, Web and App/ePub use. The detailed scope of the license is displayed on checkout and bundled with the download package. For licensing options beyond the offered volumes, please get in contact.

By purchasing Fonts from The Pyte Foundry you agree and promise to comply to the terms stated in the End User License Agreement.

Test Fonts

Test Fonts are provided with a limited character set (A–Z, a–z, 0–9) and are for Desktop use and validation purpose only. By downloading the Test Fonts you agree and promise to comply to the terms stated in the Test Font License Agreement.

Custom Work

The Pyte Foundry is offering custom type design, bespoke lettering and logotypes, vector icons as well as typographic consultancy, research and workshops.

Ellmer Stefan

… studied graphic and type design in Vienna, Arnhem and Leipzig. Since 2011 he runs an independent practice combining custom type design, historical research and self-initiated projects.

He is teaching regularly in typography and type design and has in the past collaborated with (amongst others) ANTI, Los&Co, Creuna Norway, NODE Oslo Berlin, Heydays, Olssøn Barbieri, Skald Forlag and Modest. In recent years he won the occasional award and honorable mention for his type design work.
